Shakthtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira, 26, badly wants a move to Liverpool and the striker has been talking about his desire to join the Reds and become a part of the Premier League.
Speaking to Stefano Fusaro of NBC 6 South Florida and Anfield HQ following Shakhtar’s 2016 Florida Cup campaign and as the team trained in the Sunshine State during the Ukrainian Premier League’s winter break, Teixeira had some astonishing comments.

Take a look at the video above for the interview in full, while here is his answer to what is going on regarding his potential move to Liverpool.
“It is a huge club. So many great players have passed through there. It would be an honor to defend the Liverpool shirt,” Teixeira said. “There has only been one offer, €32m ($34.8 million), and Shakhtar rejected it. I know my agent is still attempting everything possible to help me get to Liverpool.
“The team received one official offer from Liverpool. It was rejected. I don’t know why. It was a great offer. It is frustrating but the manager and the club president decided against it. So now I am just waiting and trying to be patient.”
The long-term Chelsea target was also asked if he thinks he will be lining up with good friend Philippe Coutinho in the second half of this season after spending six years in Ukraine with Shakhtar.
“I don’t know. It’s tough to answer that. I want to be there. It is up to the club president now. I can only hope. I don’t know what else to say,” Teixeira said. “I have played with Coutinho since we were 10 years old. It would be a lot of fun to play with him again.”
Will Jurgen Klopp get this signing over the line before the January transfer window slams shut at 6 p.m. ET on Monday?
Liverpool’s fans, and especially Teixeira, certainly hope so as the Reds need reinforcements up top with Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings still out injured, plus Christian Benteke not really fitting into Klopp’s system so far.
