Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both scored, but the Camp Nou was seeing as much red as Atletico Madrid after horror tackles hit both Barcelona stars.

Barca beat Atleti 2-1 on Saturday, increasing their La Liga lead to seven points on Real Madrid and three points with a game-in-hand on Saturday’s opponents.

But Diego Godin and Filipe Luis were both dismissed from the game with red cards for awful tackles (Edit: Godin’s was a second yellow).

Luis’ takedown of Lionel Messi was especially atrocious, as the ex-Chelsea man stamped down on the Argentine’s knee.

Less severe, and Suarez aided, was Godin’s takedown of his Uruguayan national teammate.

Pound of flesh exacted, but Barcelona will end up laughing as their La Liga fate is looking better than ever.
