Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata doesn’t just create on the field; His blog entries have provided plenty of entertainment this season.

The 27-year-old Spaniard started this week’s entry without a lot of joy considering Manchester United’s failed to take care of business at Sunderland on Saturday.

And it’s pretty clear that Louis van Gaal’s message about the importance of winning the Europa League has penetrated the psyche of his players.

“Our participation in the Europa League. I understand this is not the best possible situation, but it is what it is, and our goal is to keep advancing so we can have the chance to lift this trophy, which would come with a double reward. My personal experience tells me that if we work for it with excitement it could be a positive way to finish the season, as I lived three seasons ago. At the moment we face Midtjylland, the current champions of Denmark, now third in their league. Step by step.”

United faces Midtjylland on Thursday in Denmark before hosting the Danes on Feb. 25 at Old Trafford.

As for the NBA All-Star Game, a defensive struggle that saw a mere 369 points scored between the two sides, Mata was impressed particularly by a certain Golden State Warrior.

“And some of you have followed the NBA All-Star too, always very spectacular. I think Stephen Curry is a very special player. It’s really nice to watch his talent and elegance on court.”

Oddly enough, we can’t make fun of the use of “elegance”. Spot on, Juan.
