Hoffenheim 3-2 Mainz

The goals came in bunches as Mark Uth helped the home side to a safety lifeline with a pair of second-half tallies. The three points bring Hoffenheim to within two points of the relegation playoff spot, three back of 15th place’s safe shores.

The hosts briefly trailed when Jhon Cordoba opened the scoring in the 11th minute, but Nadiem Amiri leveled it at 1 two minutes later. Uth’s pair of goals eight minutes apart didn’t kill Mainz, who made it 3-2 with 12 minutes to play through Jairo, but the equalizer wasn’t coming.

Hertha Berlin 1-1 Wolfsburg

USMNT center back John Anthony Brooks led the match in touches, with 74, as Hertha moved back into third place. It’s a point’s lead over No. 5 Borussia Monchengladbach and No. 4 Augsburg, the latter of which plays Sunday. Marcel Schafer put eighth place Wolfsburg ahead in the 53rd minute, but ex-Chelsea man Salomon Kalou belted in an equalizer seven minutes later.

Borussia Monchengladbach 1-0 Koln

Mahmoud Dahoud’s ninth minute goal was all ‘Gladbach needed to move into fifth place, a point behind third place Hertha. USMNT winger Fabian Johnson went 90 minutes in the win.

Ingolstadt 2-0 Werder Bremen

Benjamin Hubner scored early and Lukas Hinterseer added another quite late as Ingolstadt moved four points clear of the relegation playoff spot that now belongs to the visitors. USMNT midfielder Alfredo Morales was not in the victors’ 18.
