Giants collide in the last 16 of the Europa League.

With no seeding and no protection from meeting clubs in your own domestic league for the 16 remaining teams left in European soccer’s second-tier competition, this draw was always going to be juicy.

It delivered and has left us salivating with bitter rivals Liverpool and Manchester United meeting and Borussia Dortmund clashing with Tottenham Hotspur.

Wowza.

Liverpool and United has never met in European competition and although both clubs would rather be in the UEFA Champions League, one of the biggest rivalries in world soccer is heading to the Europa League. As for the other marquee matchup, two teams stacked with young talent in Dortmund and Spurs will clash in what will be a hugely entertaining encounter over the two legs.

Other big clashes see an all Spanish tie with Athletic Bilbao and Valencia squaring off, while Villarreal face Bayer Leverkusen in another tasty tie. Remember, the winner of the Europa League gets an automatic spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League group stage.
