After 10 days off the match pitch and with fresh millions rolling into his club, Roberto Martinez is even more excited than usual to head into work.

The Everton manager knows that Farhad Moshiri’s addition to the Bill Kenwright-led club gives the Toffees a chance to aim for higher targets, and go from a hopeful European contender to a realistic power.

From the BBC:

“We have to look to the Champions League and we have to become a winning team,” he says.

“That’s a broad statement and difficult to achieve but this investment will take us into a different level in terms of being able to get there. Clearly it is an exciting time and that’s what every Evertonian should know. The new investment knows the history of this club and someone who will be a really strong addition.”

The charismatic Martinez seems even more buoyant given the news, and who can blame him? He wasn’t dancing at the press conference but — given what we’ve seen in the past — would that have been a surprise?
