Romelu Lukaku made history, and Aston Villa’s Premier League tenure looks set to be over.

The Everton striker scored a club-record 17th Premier League goal of the season to lift the Toffees to a 3-1 win over Villa, moving up to 10th place with the win.

Rudy Gestede scored Villa’s lone goal, as the home side is eight points back of PL safety with a goal differential of minus-29.

These are sorry times for Aston Villa, which plugged Brad Guzan back into the lineup only to allow Everton to run rampant against the USMNT goalkeeper.

He was under siege.

First center back Ramiro Funes Mori kept up his impressive season as he rose well above the Villa defense to head a corner home in the fifth minute. Lennon connected with a Kevin Mirallas cross 20 minutes later to make it 2-0.

And how about Lukaku? The 22-year-old buried a pass from Funes Mori to make his milestone and keep things academic at Villa Park.

Gestede’s in-tight header finished off the scoring.
