Maybe Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini just couldn’t wrap his head around his club’s 3-0 loss at Liverpool on Wednesday, because the words he used didn’t make much sense.
[ MATCH RECAP: Liverpool 3-0 Man City ]
Liverpool cruised by City, the 3-0 scoreline not necessarily painting the entire picture of a dominant display from the Reds.
Those same Reds lost to City in the League Cup final on Sunday and played Thursday in the UEFA Europa League against awkward.
And that makes Pellegrini’s reasoning a bit hard to handle, as City is now level with Manchester United on points.
From the BBC:
“It is difficult to have an excuse but I saw the team was not recovered from the last week. We played Champions League and then League Cup final and I saw team was not fresh and Liverpool played better.
“The last two days we work very light, just try to recover the players but from beginning they won all the balls and had a high pace – more pace than our team.”
Right. And Liverpool played just an even more congested week than City.
Sometimes you just don’t have the answers. Man City’s players didn’t on the field, and their boss lacked them in the post-match presser.
