Crystal Palace are into the final four of the FA Cup for the first time since 1995 as the Eagles defeated Reading 2-0 on Friday at Madejski Stadium.

Reading was the last non-Premier League club remaining in the competition.

The first half started rather slowly, with neither side really pressuring on goal. However, the speed and skill of Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha on the wings for Palace was visible, constantly causing problems for the Reading defense.

Palace controlled the play from the start of the second half, with Reading seeing little of the ball after the break. Despite dominating the play and earning 14 corner kicks to Reading’s two, the Eagles couldn’t seem to find a breakthrough.

With time running out Palace finally found their goal thanks to a clumsy play from Reading’s Jake Cooper. Palace was given a penalty kick when Cooper pulled down Yannick Bolasie in the box, and the defender was subsequently sent off after receiving his second yellow of the match for his tackle. Yohan Cabaye stepped up to the spot and converted his penalty to give Alan Pardew‘s side the lead.

As Reading pushed everyone forward in search of an equalzier, Frazier Campbell added an insurance goal in the 94th minute.

Crystal Palace have not won a Premier League match in 2016, although they are 4-0 in the FA Cup during that time.
