Mata welcomes idea of Ibrahimovic joining Manchester United

Manchester United has had a tremendously bumpy road this season, but Juan Mata believes there’s a certain Swede that could change the team’s fortunes.

With rumors continuing to swirl around Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his future with Paris Saint-Germain, Mata believes the striker could improve United’s attack given his successful track record.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Mata says Ibrahimovic is the type of talent that every player wants to play with.

“I don’t know what he is going to do, whether he is going to stay there or not,” Mata said. “Maybe he will try a new chapter in his long career.

“He is probably the best in Sweden’s history for what he represents. He has played in so many countries and leagues and won trophies everywhere. That speaks about his quality as a player and his importance for PSG and in the national team where he is a captain.

“He is a very good player and I like to play with very good players. Every player would be happy to play with him.”

Mata does have a valid point.

While PSG doesn’t face a ton of competition in domestic play, the fact that the team has already clinched Ligue 1 with about two months remaining is quite impressive. And Ibrahimovic has had much to do with the club’s success.

This season, Ibra has netted 27 goals in 25 league matches, while also tacking on 11 assists. The Swede recently recorded four goals in a game against Troyes, where PSG went on to win the contest 9-0.

United, who has only scored 38 goals in 30 Premier League matches in 2015-16, could surely use that kind of production.
