Netherlands-France friendly to be paused to honor Cruyff in 14th minute

Amsterdam Arena will be charged up on Friday when France visits the Netherlands in a high-profile friendly with layers of emotion.

With the terrorist attacks in Belgium drawing up horrible memories of the attacks on France, there was already set to be a moment of silence before kickoff.

Now, Holland and the world of football have lost a legend in Johan Cruyff, who passed away on Thursday.

So the authorities got inventive to properly honor the victims in Brussels and the Ajax legend, who played and coached for the Netherlands.

The Netherlands’ friendly against France will be stopped after 14 minutes for a minute’s silence to remember Dutch great Johan Cruyff.

…Both the Dutch and French teams will wear black armbands in tribute.

It’s going to be a memorable night in Amsterdam.
