City met West Brom in the first match of the 2015-16 season, leaving the Hawthorns with an easy 3-0 win. Manuel Pellegrini will be looking for a similar result on Saturday as City enter the weekend with just a one-point lead over Manchester United for fourth place on the table. Pellegrini will enter the match a bit shorthanded, with David Silva joining Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling on the injury list. With most of the focus on the Champions League, City must not overlook a Baggies’ side that always seems to spoil the party.

For West Brom, Tony Pulis has already guided his side to the essential 40-point mark as another Premier League season is in line for the Baggies. Sitting in 11th place with not much to play for, Pulis must make sure he has his team focused for Saturday’s clash with one of England’s biggest clubs. However, history is not on the Baggies’ side as they have lost eight straight matches against City, conceding three goals in each of their last five meetings.

    What they’re saying

City boss Manuel Pellegrini: “Everyone said last week at Bournemouth that we could be thinking about the Champions League but we did very well and that gave us trust for Wednesday – it will be exactly the same tomorrow. It’s a big game against West Brom at home – all the teams around us are playing against each other. Arsenal v West Ham and United v Spurs, so it’s more important than ever not to drop points at home.”

Baggies’ manager Tony Pulis on his future: “At the end of the season I’ll sit down with [chairman Jeremy Peace]. I think the most important thing is that we try and finish the season as well and as strong as we possibly can. I still have a year left so there’s no rush in doing anything else.”

West Brom are a tough matchup, but they have nothing to play for while this result is crucial for Man City. Expect the Citizens to continue their run of dominance over the Baggies. Manchester City 2-0 West Bromwich Albion.
