Jamie Vardy and Leicester City are closing in on the most remarkable Premier League title in history, and even desperate and defeated opposition fans have noticed.
[ MATCH RECAP: Sunderland 0-2 Leicester City ]
Vardy got a hug from a young fan who invaded the pitch, and then Leicester was clapped up by Sunderland fans after Sunday’s 2-0 win. The Black Cats faithful looks headed for the Championship, but clearly recognizes what they witnessed on Sunday: historical greatness.
From the BBC:
“Coming off the Sunderland fans were clapping us as well which is brilliant. It was a great game, we knew it would be tough but managed to grind it out. It’s a step closer to possibly winning the league. We’ll enjoy this for the rest of the day and then get back to training for the next week.”
Vardy clearly knows Claudio Ranieri‘s company line, as the manager said after the game that the Foxes have achieved “nothing yet”.
But really, regardless of what happens, they have. This is amazing stuff.
