John Terry is viewed as a villain by many outside of Chelsea supporters groups, but the big English center back is the hero of this story.
Terry met 8-year-old Chelsea fan Tommi Miller this summer, as the youngster battled leukemia. And he stayed in touch. Here’s Tommi’s mother Ruth.
Ruth explained how Terry subsequently got in touch when Tommi fell seriously ill.
“Just before Tommi was put on life support we received a personal letter from John Terry and it was read out to him. He was heavily sedated so we only hope he could hear us.”
Miller passed away last month after an unsuccessful bone marrow transplant, and Terry was contacted. The Chelsea man has given the family approximately $2400 to pay for the funeral.
“Having had the pleasure of meeting Tommi at a Chelsea game I was totally devastated to hear of him passing away.
“I’m sure his family and friends will give him the send off he deserves.”
At the funeral, the report says 100 blue balloons will be set into the sky. What a way to send off this young Chelsea fan. All our best to the Miller family, and cheers to Terry for the gesture.
