Atleti’s Simeone keeps it cool after beating Barca: “important, but not extraordinary”

Atletico Madrid knocked Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League for the second time in three years, so pardon Diego Simeone if he’s keeping his eye on the prize: Atleti’s first European Cup.

The two-time runners-up still seek their first title, but are two rounds away from achieving it after dismissing Barca on Wednesday.

The question for Atleti moving forward is whether it will be able to find the requisite amount of balance in attack and defense to handle a power like Bayern Munich or Real Madrid, let alone “guest club” Manchester City.
