After months of speculation, American teenager Haji Wright has officially signed for FC Schalke 04 of the Bundesliga.
Wright has been training in Germany with the club but was unable to sign a contract until his 18th birthday in late March.

He now joins 17-year-old Christian Pulisic of Borussia Dortmund as two of America’s most promising young talents look to make a name for themselves in the Bundesliga.
Wright has had multiple training stints with Schalke, starting when he was involved in the LA Galaxy’s youth setup. However, Wright shocked many when he left the Galaxy to sign with the NASL’s New York Cosmos last season. After spending most of the year with the Cosmos’ reserves, he went back to train in Germany until he was eligible to sign a professional contract.
In 34 matches for the U.S. Under 17s, Wright lit up the scoresheet with 27 goals. He featured in all three matches last summer in the U17 World Cup, although he failed to score as the U.S. bowed out in the group stage.
