City have five matches remaining in the Premier League, but much of their focus is on their position in the Champions League semifinal, set to face Real Madrid next week.

Speaking to the media during his Friday press conference, manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed the return of his two starters, but also revealed that David Silva and Samir Nasri will miss out on the Newcastle match.

Sterling and Kompany are both in the squad. Vincent will be an important help for the defence. It’s been a very important season and we have to keep fighting. Sterling is coming back and we’ll see if he can play some minutes tomorrow.

Sagna, also Clichy [are both back], Silva [ankle] and Nasri are out. Nasri – it’s a small muscle injury, it’s not too important, we’ll see how many days he’s out for.

Kompany, City’s captain and center-back, has not played in over a month while nursing a calf injury that has hampered him throughout the season. One of the most important players in the side, Kompany’s presence on the back-line is crucial in City’s drive for Champions League success.
