Tottenham got off to a great start with Harry Kane putting Spurs ahead within the opening ten minutes. Kane took a ball from Mousa Dembele, cut onto his right foot and bent a beautiful curling shot into the side netting at the far post. It was Kane’s Premier League-leading 23rd goal of the season.
Spurs really should have gone into the half 2-0 up, but Christian Eriksen missed a prime opportunity to double Tottenham’s lead in the 42nd minute. A clever back-heel from Dele Alli played Eriksen in alone on goal, but the Danish playmaker fired his shot off the crossbar as Stoke remained just one goal down at the break.

Despite the switch, Spurs remained in control of the match while goalkeeper Hugo Lloris went relatively untested through the opening hour.

Then in the 67th minute Tottenham finally doubled their lead, this time through the young Dele Alli. The 20-year-old tallied his ninth goal of the season, controlling a perfectly-weighted ball from Eriksen before dinking one over Shay Given to put Spurs ahead 2-0.
Seconds later, Alli followed up his goal with arguably the miss of the season, dribbling around the keeper and staring at an open net only to mishit his shot off the post.

However, Alli’s miss was quickly forgotten as Harry Kane made the scoreline 3-0 to Spurs with his second goal of the match in the 71st minute. A lightning counter from Tottenham shredded the Potters apart, with Kane converting an easy finish from an Erik Lamela assist.
Alli would further make up for his miss in the 82nd minute, slicing a volley into the side netting to cap off a convincing 4-0 win for Tottenham.
