Matteo Darmian forced Damien Delaney into an own goal before adding one of his own as Manchester United cruised past Crystal Palace 2-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
United’s 59 point total is good for fifth in the Premier League, one behind Arsenal and two back of Man City.
Palace is 16th with 39 points, 9 clear of 18th place Sunderland. The Black Cats have played two fewer matches.

Delaney couldn’t have finished much better if he were an attacker, redirecting Matteo Darmian’s cross past Julian Speroni for a fairly comical own goal.
Manchester United carried the play, and Speroni was forced to parry an excellent chance from Anthony Martial.

Darmian got one of his own after the break, and it was spectacular. The Italian defender hit a left-footed outswinger from 20 yards that hit the post and ricocheted into the goal to make it 2-0.
