One of English football’s greatest rivalries is back in action on Wednesday when Liverpool host Everton in the Merseyside Derby (Watch live, 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra).
Six of the last seven meetings between these sides have finished as draws, a trend both sides will be trying to break at Anfield today.
Liverpool have won three straight matches in all competitions and are flying high heading into the derby. Jurgen Klopp has revitalized the Reds, and the players are starting to show the potential that has fans at Anfield very excited for the future. Daniel Sturridge is back on the bench as the young Divock Origi gets the start.
Things aren’t going as well at Everton, as the Toffees are winless in their last six league matches. Roberto Martinez may be on the chopping block this summer, but a win in the derby could ease some of the pressure. In team news, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley are back in the starting XI and will lead the line for Everton.
