Javi Gomez, a 33-year-old Spanish striker who plays for UD Socuellamos, will almost certainly never find himself in a position to demand the Eiffel Tower be replaced with a statue of himself (for footballing purposes, of course), as Zlatan Ibrahimovic famously did last month.
Gomez and Zlatan come from polar opposite ends of the footballing world, in fact. The latter stars for Paris Saint-Germain and is poised to make another massive-money move to another mega-club this summer, while the former plies his trade in Spain’s Segunda Division B (third tier).

On Sunday, though, no matter how unlikely, their paths crossed, as Gomez scored from the above bicycle kick 30 yards out from goal, which immediately conjured up memories of Zlatan’s stunning bike in a friendly against England nearly four years ago.
Soak it in while you can, Javi Gomez, for there’s no greater compliment of a striker than being mentioned in the same breath as Zlatan.
