Harry Kane to Napoli? That’s what Maradona wants

Harry Kane has lit up the Premier League over the past two seasons, scoring 45 goals as his name has risen to the top of the list of elite European strikers.

His form has been so good that it has caught the attention of another person who knows all about being a star: Diego Maradona.

Arguably the greatest player of all-time, Maradona has been so impressed with Kane that he would like to see the Tottenham striker move to his former club, Napoli.

Napoli currently sit second in Serie A, and have been led by Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, who leads the league with a ridiculous 30 goals in 32 matches. However, Maradona has seen the club sell away top talent before, such as when Ezequiel Lavezzi was sold to PSG in 2012 for more than $30 million.

Speaking to Piuenne TV, Maradona said he believed Higuain would be sold this summer, and tabbed Harry Kane as his preferred replacement.

I know [Napoli president Auerelio] De Laurentiis, and I think he will sell Higuain.

[Higuain] gave his best to Napoli, I don’t think he can repeat this kind of form. We already saw it happen with Lavezzi.

With the money he will earn, he will have to build a great team.

It’s not easy to replace Higuain, if it was up to me, I would choose Tottenham’s Kane. I don’t know how much he costs, but I would sign him.

At 22-years-old and already closing in on 50 Premier League goals, Kane is certainly not up for sale by Tottenham. A homegrown product that has the potential to play at a top level for another ten years, it would take an astronomical offer to force Spurs to sell.

However, when Diego Maradona speaks highly of you, it means you’re doing something right. Higuain will likely be sold this summer and Kane won’t be his replacement, but to be wanted by one of the greatest in history, it is quite the honor.
