La Liga president Javier Tebas said “abnormal” betting activity led to the investigation, while newspaper reports out of Spain have accused Rayo players of throwing the match.

The Madrid club has denied any wrongdoing and released the following statement refuting the reports.

In no instance will we allow the honour, integrity and professionalism of all members of our squad to be doubted, nor will we allow these reports to stain the good name of the club, the players or the fans.
