Ander Herrera has, perhaps quietly, been a pretty good player for Manchester United and he knows a way to raise the profile of his sometimes-maligned Red Devils.

Win the FA Cup.

Part of Herrera’s flying under-the-radar has to do with injury and lineup selection, but the 26-year-old midfielder says Saturday’s final against Crystal Palace is quite obviously a huge opportunity.

United heroes Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney don’t have an FA Cup win on their resume, and Herrera is relishing the chance to be a part of history.

From ManUtd.com:

“It’s one of the most important trophies in the world, the first competition ever, and that means this club has something special. We can get the trophy and build from this trophy. We have to fight for it.

“If we want to be the best Manchester United again, the best way to do it is winning this trophy. It would be fantastic.”

We’re looking forward to Saturday’s match, and to seeing what lineup and tactics Louis Van Gaal prefers against Palace in a big game. How do you think he’ll operate?
