With the FA Cup final from Wembley Stadium today at 12:30 p.m. ET, there’s plenty on the line. Both managers desperately need this on their resume to move into the offseason with some breathing room, while the players of course are searching for silverware.
The big news before kickoff was reports of Crystal Palace playmaker Wilfried Zaha in tears on the pitch, and there were reports he would not make the squad. The 23-year-old was the Crystal Palace Player of the Year, but had missed the last three Premier League matches of the season with a hamstring injury. He did make the starting lineup, however, much to the delight of manager Alan Pardew, with the club confirming his emotional state was due to a heartfelt text message he received prior to kickoff.
Marouane Fellaini starts for Manchester United having returned from his three-match ban. Marcus Rojo returned to the starting lineup as well after missing out on the final match of the Premier League season. Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian also come back into the squad after injuries, both making the substitutes bench.
