When Louis Van Gaal was sacked and replaced by well-recognized Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, all hopes were dashed for Ryan Giggs when it comes to managing Manchester United; at least for now.

Sky Sports is reporting that the former club legend will depart the team’s technical staff as he searches for a head coaching role.

Mourinho reportedly offered Giggs a role on his staff, although it’s unclear as to what position that was going to be.

While no indications have been made as to which clubs Giggs could be targeting or even if any teams have contacted him, the 42-year-old is said to be intent on leaving United after feeling mistreated in the squad’s coaching carousel since Sir Alex Ferguson‘s departure.

Sky Sports also reported that Giggs felt slighted over not being considered for the senior team manager position, and now he would rather leave than take a reduced role under Mourinho and his new staff.
