Report: Ibrahimovic closing in on Man United move

It always seemed like his most likely destination, and it appears that’s where Zlatan Ibrahimovic will land.

After weeks of speculation, the Swede could be set for a move to Manchester United ahead of the upcoming Euro 2016 competition in France.

Sky Sports is reporting that Ibrahimovic and his representatives will agree to a one-year contract at Old Trafford, making the soon-to-be former PSG striker Jose Mourinho’s first signing for the Red Devils.

It is expected that a deal is completed prior to this month’s Euros opener against Ireland on June 13. Ibrahimovic’s contract with PSG is set to run out in the coming week, allowing Man United to sign the Swede on a free transfer.

While United is certainly an appealing move for Ibrahimovic, especially with Mourinho in charge, he did have several other offers from Italy and China, among others.

The Guardian also reported that Tottenham Hotspur has expressed significant interest in the 34-year-old, but Ibrahimovic has let the club know that the only Premier League side he would be willing to sign with is United.

Despite United’s absence from the Champions League in 2016-17, the addition of Ibrahimovic would immediately give the Red Devils one of the best, if not the best, striking partnerships in the PL. Joined by youngster Marcus Rashford, who Mourinho is reportedly very fond of, the duo could prove to be deadly with one another next season.
