The question of whether Andros Townsend would remain with Newcastle United post-relegation may have its negative answer.
The BBC reports that Crystal Palace is set to trigger Townsend’s release clause for a little over $17 million.
Townsend was electric for Newcastle down the stretch run, almost helping the club find a great escape from its relegation fate.

The ex-Spurs man was said to be interested in staying on for the Rafa Benitez project, but may’ve had his head turned when he received a recall to England before ultimately not making the 23-man roster for EURO (He could’ve helped on the wings).
The report says Dwight Gayle is going back the other way in separate deal for about $13 million, and that Newcastle is also close to landing Bournemouth’s Matt Ritchie.
