New Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has wasted no time getting to know the fans.
The Spaniard was introduced by the club to the fans, who sang his name in front of the Etihad.
Guardiola spoke about what his first job will be as manager, and it didn’t have to do with x’s and o’s. “I need time, but in this world we don’t have time,” Guardiola said. “So as soon as possible, we will try to create a team spirit, that is the most important thing. After, we can talk about the tactics, about many many things, but we have to create something special between each other, our body language in that moment, in the beginning is the most important thing, and after the rest, it’s coming along.”
The 45-year-old also mentioned a few reasons why he chose to head up Manchester City, one of which is the youth system.
“One of the reasons – there are many many reasons – but a reason I decide to come here to chose to join Manchester City because I knew how good they are working in the academy with the young players.”
Guardiola has already taken to ensuring the club future of one particular academy product. He has reportedly told 19-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho not to participate in the Olympics with Nigeria in order to be ready for the Premier League season.
