Family matter: Wales’ Gunter, parents to miss brother’s wedding for EURO semi

Apparently, Chris Gunter‘s brother was among the many who didn’t expect Wales to make the EURO 2016 semifinal.

Wales, of course, plays Portugal on Wednesday for the right to face France or Germany in the tournament final.

And now his parents are opting to go to the match instead of his brother’s wedding, which is in Mexico on Thursday.

The kicker? Reading defender Gunter is the best man in the wedding, and will give his speech via Skype.

Surely that will be a memorable speech, but if Gunter’s brother is stung we suggest he reevaluate having a destination wedding on a Thursday.

Moreso, how about a little faith in Wales? We know, we know…

USMNT vs El Salvador: How to watch live, team news, updates

The USMNT host El Salvador in a winner-take-all CONCACAF Nations League Group D finale on Monday (7:30 pm ET), at Exploria Stadium in Orlando.

The group winner will qualify for the finals (four teams) of the 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League (June 15-18) as well as the 2023 Gold Cup (June 24-July 16). The group runners-up will also qualify for this summer’s Gold Cup.

Following their 7-1 thumping of Grenada on Friday, the USMNT is in good shape and interim head coach Anthony Hudson will likely rotate his first-choice back four back into the lineup.

Christian Pulisic, Brenden Aaronson, Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna and Ricardo Pepi all sparkled in the final third against Grenada and we could see Alex Zendejas and Daryl Dike from the start in Orlando.

Of course, Folarin Balogun is also expected to be watching on from the stands as intrigue grows around his possible switch from England to the USMNT to give the Americans another fine young attacking talent.

Bukayo Saka has led Arsenal’s unlikely Premier League title push since the opening day of the season and the England star is a rising superstar in the global game.

Saka has been sensational during the 2022-23 campaign and along with Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli, he has given Mikel Arteta’s side an X-factor that few teams can handle.

The tricky winger has set up plenty of goals but he’s scored plenty too as this is his best season in an Arsenal shirt. The best thing about him? He’s still so young and it’s clear there is much more to come from him.

EURO 2024 qualification live! EURO qualifiers schedule, updates, standings

EURO 2024 qualifying is here, and you’re in the right spot for groups, fixtures, and results.

Italy outlasted England in penalty kicks to win EURO 2020 and is bidding to become the first repeat winner since Spain in 2008 and 2012.

England is still seeking its first European Championship and will be favored to emerge from Group C with aforementioned Italy as well as Ukraine, North Macedonia, and Malta.

Netherlands and France are also in a spicy group that has dark horse Republic of Ireland and former champions Greece, as well as Gibraltar.

After reaching the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup, the USMNT have a big 2023 coming up as they aim to build off a successful showing on the world’s biggest stage.

For the next few months CONCACAF Nations League takes center stage, while the program is very much in transition as Anthony Hudson takes temporary charge and both the GM (Brian McBride) and Sporting Director (Earnie Stewart) left in recent months.
