Tottenham are closing in on Dutch international striker Vincent Janssen with multiple reports claiming he’s flown to London for a medical.

The 22-year-old was the leading scorer for AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie last season with 27 goals and his elegant touch and clever movement has grabbed the attention of Paris Saint-Germain and Wolfsburg. Yet, it seems like Spurs have finally wrapped up a deal with AZ after previously refusing to meet their asking price of $22 million.

Mauricio Pochettino has long been after a player who can supplement Harry Kane and Janssen seems to fit the ball. He’s a very similar player in that he can drop into the hole and pick out passes just as well as he can finish clinically inside the box.

Spurs have had a string of forwards who’ve tried to step in for Kane when he’s rested but the likes of Son Hueng-min and Clinton N'Jie just haven’t delivered in a central position.

Janssen has scored four goals in five appearances for the Dutch national team and his  meteoric rise from the Dutch lower leagues in 2015 to the UEFA Champions League in 2016 looks set to be complete.

The Sun reports that Portugal’s defensive midfielder William Carvalho is wanted by a trio of Premier League clubs.

Leicester City, Everton and Southampton are all said to be chasing one of the unsung heroes of Portugal’s miraculous EURO 2016 title run, as the Sporting Lisbon product battled away in the engine room and helped the Portuguese to four clean sheets (the joint-most of any team) at the tournament.

Carvalho, 24, was linked with Arsenal and Liverpool in the past but it now seems like his destructive abilities in holding midfield and his impressive ball retention skills are needed elsewhere. Everton have joined the race to sign him as they currently have an ageing Gareth Barry in that holding midfield role, while N'Golo Kante‘s future at Leicester City seems unclear plus Victor Wanyama‘s departure from Southampton leaves them with a hole to fill.

Carvalho can fill it with his powerful displays and ability to shield the two center backs a sought after commodity in the PL. Plus, he has an awesome mustache, so he’s a winner in my book.

It’s safe to say Carvalho won’t be the only Portuguese national team player who will be chased by other clubs this summer.
