The Premier League season wasn’t even done and dusted when West Ham’s strike force targets entered the media.

Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Tevez are among the big names who’ve been tipped as targets of Slaven Bilic and the Hammers.

Now Italian site Calcio Mercato claims that West Ham is readying a $78 million bid for Gonzalo Higuain, who had been linked with several other big name Premier League clubs.

The 28-year-old striker scored a remarkable 36 goals for Napoli last season, a career-best and his most since netting 27 for Real Madrid in 2009-10.

A pick-up like Higuain and the retention of Dimitri Payet would make the Hammers favorites to continue climbing the PL table.

West Ham finished seventh in the Premier League, four points back of the Top Four last season. They’ve added Sofiane Feghouli, Havard Nordtveit and Gokhan Tore.
