Jeremy Menez is headed back to his home country after bringing an end to his two-year spell at AC Milan.
He completed a move to Bordeaux on Sunday, the fourth Ligue 1 club he will play for in his career. Menez formerly came up into the professional ranks with Sochaux while the club was still in the top flight, moved to Monaco for two years, and he spent three seasons with Paris Saint-Germain – winning a pair of Ligue 1 titles – just prior to his move to Milan.
Menez had a solid first season at the San Siro during the 2014/15 campaign, scoring 16 goals in 33 Serie A appearances. However, the 29-year-old struggled mightily with back and hip injuries last season, missing the entire first half of the year and seeing the field just 10 times, only twice in the starting lineup.
The owner of 24 caps for the French national team, Menez has not made the international squad since 2013, and a move back home could boost his chances of a return.
Liverpool was reportedly interested in snatching up Menez last summer, but no deal happened likely due to his injury, and while they reportedly remained interested into the winter transfer window, nothing materialized.
The move to Bordeaux is subject to the completion of a medical.
