Wales and Swansea City captain Ashley Williams is on the verge of joining Everton.
According to the South Wales Evening Post, Williams, 31, will be sold to Everton for $13 million as the central defender is lined up as a replacement for the outgoing John Stones. Ronald Koeman is expecting Stones, 22, to join Manchester City in a $65 million sometime this week and was also said to be interested in Southampton’s Jose Fonte.

However, it appears Williams will bolster Everton’s defense and the Welsh international will end his eight-year association with the Swans after getting promoted from the third-tier in 2008 with them and being ever-present for Swansea in the PL over their past five seasons since promotion.
Williams will leave a huge hole at the heart of Swansea’s defense but financially this deal makes sense for everyone. Swansea get a massive fee for a center back who has three or four years max left in the tank, while Williams will get a tidy increase in his wages at Goodison Park.
Mario Gomez could soon be a hammer.
The Germany international striker, 31, is believed to be close to sealing a $10 million move from Fiorentina according to the Daily Mirror. Gomez scored twice for Germany at EURO 2016 and was in fine form while on loan at Turkish outfit Besiktas last season, scoring 28 goals in 41 appearances as they were crowned champions of Turkey.
However Gomez revealed in a social media post that he doesn’t want to return Istanbul due to the ongoing situation in Turkey and Slaven Bilic could provide him with an escape route.
With West Ham set to sell Diafra Sakho to West Bromwich Albion in the next 24 hours, Gomez’ potential arrival would provide much-needed competition to a forward line which only currently boasts Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia.
