West Ham United lost 3-2 to Juventus at the London Stadium on Sunday with the Hammers battling back from 2-0 down but suffered defeat in their final preseason friendly.
Andy Carroll powered home headers either side of half time as the friendly match to officially unveil West Ham’s new home in the London 2012 Olympic stadium was eventful in front of a packed house. Dimitri Payet came on in the second half for a West Ham side wearing a throwback shirt, while Gonzalo Higuain made his first appearance for Juve since sealing his $98.6 million transfer from Napoli.

Slaven Bilic‘s side now face Chelsea on Aug. 15 in their opening game of the Premier League season before heading to Romania to play Romanian champions Astra Giurgiu in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League qualifier on Aug. 18.
Below is some footage of the opening ceremony, while West Ham also wore a special commemorative black jersey with the “Thames Iron Workers FC” logo and badge, tipping its cap to their past.
Paulo Dybala scored Juventus’ first and his jinxing run set up Mario Mandzukic for the second as the Italian champs raced out in front, then came West Ham’s comeback before Simone Zaza

Carroll then struck twice either side of half time with towering headers to draw West Ham level. Here’s the first:
Then Carroll drew it level with this trademark header from a free kick on the right.
However Juve scored the eventual winner with three minutes to go as Zaza raced cleared and drilled home into the far corner. 3-2 to Juventus.
