Swansea City won 1-0 at Burnley thanks to Leroy Fer‘s late goal.
On the opening day of the Premier League it was the Swans who did most of the pressing in the first half but Burnley came flying back in the second half and Lukasz Fabianski produced great stops from Dean Marney and Sam Vokes.
However, Fer popped up in the final 10 minutes to grab all three points for Francesco Guidolin‘s men.

Burnley looked nervous, not creating much in the final third, as the Clarets edged their way into the game.

As half time approached Burnley started to get going and Andre Gray raced free into the box but Lukasz Fabianski saved well at his near post. Wayne Routledge smashed wide and Jordi Amat then had an effort cleared off the line just before half time as the teams went in level.

Burnley started well in the second half and Vokes’ volley was saved superbly by Fabianski as the home side pushed hard.
Then came a horrendous moment for Swansea’s Uruguayan defender Fernandez. A corner found him unmarked two-yards out but somehow he prodded the ball over the bar. An early contender for miss of the season.

Swansea finally broke through in the 82nd minute as Fer followed up after Llorente’s header was saved by Heaton to slot home and snatch three points for the Welsh outfit.
Dean Marney smashed a shot on goal which deflected heavily but Fabianski saved superbly late on to seal all three points for the Swans.
