The game in 100 words (or less): Just a few weeks ago the Seattle Sounders were dead in the water in the competitive Western Conference. After Sunday night’s 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake, the Sounders sit on 27 points, just five points out of the final playoff position in the West and with two games in hand. Nicolas Lodeiro continues to make a huge impact offensively for the Sounders, bagging his first league goal and adding an assist against RSL. Meanwhile, RSL has now lost two out of its last three matches.

Three moments that mattered
24′ – Lodeiro nets first Sounders goal — It happened really quick but Nicolas Lodeiro’s first MLS finish was pure class from a player that has truly impacted the Sounders attack.
37′ — Morris doubles the lead before halftime — Jordan Morris has been a pest for MLS defenses in his debut season, but it was again Nicolas Lodeiro who was directly involved in the second Sounders finish.
62′ — Frei makes bizarre mistake — The Sounders keeper was duped by Yura Movsisyan at the top of the Sounders penalty area and unfortunately gave the ball away in an untimely position.
81′ — Rimando intimidates, Dempsey’s PK stays out — Nick Rimando has a fantastic track record when it comes to stopping penalty kicks, and while the RSL keeper didn’t get a touch to Clint Dempsey‘s attempt, the veteran certainly gave the Sounders attacker a lot to think about before hitting his shot.
