According to new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, as many as eight teams will be in the mix to bring home the title, which Leicester City captured a season ago.

Via the Evening Standard:

“I think that in this league it’s very tough, and I think that at the moment six, seven, eight teams can fight to win the title,” Conte said.

With that being said, Conte remained coy about naming Chelsea as an immediate title contender this season but did say that the Blues have the capabilities to be in the consideration if they play up to their potential.

“And I’m sure Chelsea is a good team and we must work very hard to be in the six, seven teams that fight for the title.”

Chelsea will open its new season on Monday when the team takes on West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
