While president Florentino Perez remains adamant that James Rodriguez won’t be leaving Real Madrid, the Colombian playmaker appears more and more likely to exit this summer.
According to Sport, Chelsea remains the biggest player for James, who has already gained Zinedine Zidane’s approval to leave Los Blancos during the transfer window.
While the extent of talks between the two clubs is still unknown, Chelsea has reportedly discussed a move with Rodriguez’s agent. The biggest hurdle for the Blues will be overcoming the $79 million price tag established by Real.
Given the Colombian’s willingness to leave the club though, Chelsea could pounce at the opportunity to bolster its already dangerous attack with another promising talent.
Chelsea also features wingers Willian and Eden Hazard, as well as Victor Moses, Juan Cuadrado and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and the addition of James would give new manager Antonio Conte plenty of choices during both Premier League play and during club competitions throughout the 2016/17 season.Follow @MattReedFutbol
