The club announced on Friday that the U.S. Men’s National Team attacker will miss this weekend’s match against the Portland Timbers after the team discovered that Dempsey has an irregular heartbeat.

He will undergo further tests to determine severity and his status moving forward, but MLSSocccer.com is also reporting that Dempsey won’t be called up for the USMNT’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Trinidad & Tobago and St. Vincent and the Grenadines in early September.

Since joining the Sounders, the 33-year-old has recorded an impressive 37 goals to go along with his 22 assists for the Western Conference powerhouse.
