Moussa Sissoko‘s year-long plan to escape Newcastle United brought the world a load of quotes designed to engineer himself a new destination.
Few figured that would be Spurs, but he’s off to White Hart Lane after the mercurial midfielder chose Tottenham over Everton on Deadline Day.

He “hoped Real (Madrid) would come” for him, and has probably proffered more “Come and Get Me” pleas that a heartsick teen on the night of a formal dance.
But his landing spot in London reminded many of some earlier quotes. Remember this one?
“Arsenal were my favorite club when I was young and my idol was Patrick Vieira. I have always loved this club and I still love them.”
“If Arsene Wenger calls, I’ll have a man-to-man discussion with him and then we’ll see. Arsenal has always been the club of my heart.”
When you consider his use of Everton, who ponied up the money and expected to see him for a medical, Sissoko has a lot of work to do to engender good will around the Premier League.
