Zlatan Ibrahimovic was fairly effusive with his praise on Monday.

After backing Marcus Rashford to be Manchester United’s next big star, the Swedish striker turned his attention to Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder was the target of critics after Manchester City knocked off United 2-1 on Saturday, with the midfielder asked to fill different roles in each half by Jose Mourinho.

Ibrahimovic says it’s just jealousy.

From Goal.com:

“I did not know Paul before and now I know him personally, he is a boy who works hard, he wants to progress and has a good attitude. But he is still young and all the jealous people talking about him will swallow every word they said about him because he will only get better.”

“You have to be realistic, people are putting a lot of pressure on Paul. His transfer created a huge amount of buzz.”

Pogba averages a goal every 4.5 matches in his career, so perhaps some of those critics are expecting different offensive numbers based on his big transfer fee. Frankly, he hasn’t been outstanding but also far from substandard. It’ll come for the Frenchman.
