For most young players, they dream of one day making it to the world’s biggest clubs.
Franck Kessie has those aspirations too, and his hope is that one day he’ll be playing in England. In just his second season in Italy’s top flight, Kessie already has his sights set on Manchester United, a club that clearly holds a special place in his heart.
While he recognizes he has a ways to go before making it to the Premier League, Kessie has made it clear where he sees his future plans.
“Now I want to learn Italian tactics but in the future, I like the Premier League,” Kessie told Sky Italia. “I’d like to play for Manchester United. I don’t know if [Jose] Mourinho will be there, but Manchester United has always been my favorite team.”
Kessie has gotten off to a furious start to the 2016/17 season, netting five goals in four matches across all competitions for Atalanta.
The Ivorian midfielder says that he hopes to follow in the footsteps of several other successful African footballers such as Michael Essien and Yaya Toure.
“My idols are Yaya Toure and Essien. I was told that I have to work very hard to reach a big level,” Kessie said.Follow @MattReedFutbol
