There’s only three unbeaten teams remaining in the Premier League, and Pep Guardiola is already showing his brilliance as a manager at Manchester City by keeping his squad focused while they fight through the injury bug.
City is off to a perfect 4-0-0 start in the PL in 2016, while also avoiding defeat in all other competitions. Guardiola — in his first season in Manchester — hasn’t had it easy though as he manages England’s top team.
Already without center back Vincent Kompany, who has yet to play this season due to injury, Guardiola will now likely be missing David Silva on Saturday when the Citizens face off against Bournemouth.
While the Manchester side does have the luxury of boasting creative attacking players like Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling to mask the loss of Silva, the Spaniard has proven over six-plus seasons at the Etihad Stadium that he is in vital up front.
“I don’t think tomorrow will be enough [time],” Guardiola said. “I didn’t see the doctor or David. I don’t think it’s a big, big problem but it happened two days ago so I don’t think he’ll be able to play.”
In regards to Kompany, Guardiola stated that the veteran Belgian defender is nearing a return but the club remains cautious as they don’t want to rush the player back before he is back to full health.Follow @MattReedFutbol
