The game in 100 words (or less): It was only a matter of time until Landon Donovan found himself scoring a goal again for the Galaxy. It just so happened that Sunday’s finish helped the five-time MLS Cup winners secure a point on the road. After a strong start, led by Alan Gordon’s header, the Galaxy were sent on the back foot for much of the match, conceding the lead in the second half after goals from Jacob Peterson and Dom Dwyer found their way past Brian Rowe. Sporting KC remains in sixth place in the Western Conference on 40 points following the draw, while the Galaxy move up to second in the West, four points behind FC Dallas.

Three moments that mattered

7’— Gordon heads the visitors in front — The Galaxy simply have way too many players that can score goals. That isn’t not good news for the rest of the league.

50′ — Peterson levels things up — He’s been an unsung hero for Sporting KC for some time now, and boy did Peter Vermes’ side need this finish from Jacob Peterson. In other news, that was some cross from Dom Dwyer.

69′ — Dwyer fires Sporting out in front — Sometimes you just have to be more aware than the other team. Benny Feilhaber certainly was in this situation.

77′ — Donovan nets first goal in return to MLS — It’s as if he never took any time off.
