Per Spanish outlet Marca, Courtois recalls the aftermath of his knee injury last season after being asked about a transfer link to Real.
“What I do know is that Real Madrid made a very nice gesture to me,” Courtois said. “When I hurt my knee I was sent a fax wishing me a speedy recovery.”
Now, Courtois is a hip young man and doesn’t own a fax machine but Chelsea does and it has since been reported that Real sent the fax to Chelsea to then pass on to Courtois.
Hmm. Intriguing.
Courtois went on to say that he “doesn’t know anything apart from what I read in the papers” about Real’s reported interest in him and added “I think a lot of clubs are monitoring me because of my profile. I can adapt to any style of play at any club.”
The young goalkeeper had a challenging second season at Chelsea after winning the Premier League title and League Cup in his first year in England following on from a hugely successful three-year loan spell with Atletico Madrid where he won La Liga and reached the UEFA Champions League final.
Turns out Courtois is a wanted man but with Chelsea demanding over $90 million for him, you won’t see him leave Stamford Bridge anytime soon.
However, he did admit he misses Spain and said that he watches Spanish TV, takes siesta’s and hailed the city of Madrid for making him the goalkeeper he is today.
“I have a contract with Chelsea for three more seasons. In 2018, when I enter the last year of my contract, we will have to weigh up whether it is best to renew or leave,” Courtois added.
Hmm. Intriguing.
