Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to avoid upsets against third-tier opponents as Jose Mourinho’s United aim to bounce back from three-straight defeats in a week but have a tough encounter facing them away at Northampton Town. Mourinho and his boys have been limbering up in parking lots in Northamptonshire ahead of the game (true story, check it out here).
As for Spurs, they host Gillingham and Mauricio Pochettino is expected to give plenty of youngsters a chance to shine. Elsewhere there are three all-PL ties with Manchester City heading to Swansea City, Southampton hosting Crystal Palace and Hull City making the midweek trip to Stoke City.
Other PL clubs on upset alert will be struggling West Ham United who host League Two Accrington Stanley at the London Stadium. Accrington knocked PL side Burnley out of the competition in the last round and will be hoping for another big scalp. Sunderland head to QPR in the other PL team hoping to make it to the next round.
On Tuesday Chelsea beat Leicester in extra time, while Liverpool and Arsenal eased through to the last 16. However, PL sides Bournemouth and Everton were dumped out at home, losing to Championship sides Preston North End and Norwich City respectively.
