Leicester City was stout on defense last season, launching clinical counter attacks out of its 4-4-2 system and watching Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez punish teams.

The key to that, however, is strong defense. Wes Morgan and Robert Huth holding it down while everyone else picks up marks and remains keenly aware of every opposing movement.

That didn’t happen on Saturday, and the moldy cherry on top of the spoiled cream was a cute corner that ended with Juan Mata finding Marcus Rashford for a tap-in through the six.

From the BBC:

“It is not possible to concede three goals from corners. That means you are not concentrating, We are usually very solid at corners and free-kicks, it was very strange. Until now we have been very strong, we have made some mistakes. I can understand that they score with headers, that they are very tall, but to score a smart goal from a corner is not possible.

“It is important to clean our mind and get ready for the Champions League on Tuesday.”

Leicester’s best route to Europe may be winning a European tournament, probably Europa League, though their weak group means the knockout rounds seem probable.
