86′ goal
87′ yellow card
90′ 2nd yellow card

Your typical day at the office for Mario Balotelli.

The revived Italian striker gave Nice all three points with a brilliant strike just four minutes from time in a 2-1 win over Lorient, sending the club tops in the Ligue 1 table.

The goal is Balotelli’s sixth in his last five matches across all competitions, an incredible revival considering the horrible form he’d been suffering through the past few years at a number of clubs.

However, it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine for the Italian. He removed his shirt in the goal celebration, drawing an automatic yellow card, and then in injury time he got in the face of Steve Moreira, earning yellows for both men, and seeing Balotelli to a slightly early shower. To be fair, there really wasn’t much in the “clash” between Balotelli and Moreira, with the two just coming together with very little venom between them. There may have been a very slight hint of a headbutt by Balotelli, but with the referee handing both men yellows, it’s clear that wasn’t what the caution was for.

Despite the sending off, Balotelli’s superb form has Nice stunningly atop the Ligue 1 table on 20 points, which nobody saw coming.
