Southgate names first England roster as World Cup qualifying resumes

While fallout from Sam Allardyce‘s sacking continues to hit England hard, Gareth Southgate has named his first roster as UEFA World Cup qualifying gets set to resume.

Southgate, 46, revealed the squad on Sunday, which features many first-team regulars like Wayne Rooney and goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Among the surprises in the team are West Ham’s Michail Antonio — who was named in the previous England squad — and Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard.

Currently second in Group F, the Three Lions will continue their path to Russia on October 8 against Malta before facing Slovenia three days later.
